Oswald Danes is a former school teacher convicted of raping and murdering 12 year old Suzie Cabena and sentenced to death. Upon his arrest he is reported to have said, regarding the victim, 'she should have run faster'.The day of his execution is Miracle Day, after he survives the lethal injection procedure (he survives but suffers an agonizing fit during the procedure) he is released from prison. His lawyers successfully argued that he served his sentence in full as the occurrence of Miracle Day was in no way his doing therefore the execution proceeded as planned. He also threatens to sue the Kentucky Governor personally for millions of dollars if he isn't released.After his release he appears on a live evening news program where he breaks into sobbing hysterics and swears he is sorry for raping and killing Suzie. As he is leaving a Production Assistance that had been rude to him apologizes for her behavior, during his apology she actually teared up. He is also intercepted by Jilly Kitzinger an extremely adept and efficient P.R. professional. She offers to assist Danes regarding his public image and booking interviews etc. He repeatedly turns her down and eventually tears up her card before answering a phone call regarding an interview on Oprah Winfrey.After being beaten by cops angered by his release Danes agrees to work with Kitzinger. In return for espousing the positive benefits of her company and their political agenda he is provided with a duo of body guards (and presumably cash etc). When Jack confronts him at gunpoint over his claims to feel forgiven for the brutal murder of Suzie he admits that killing her was the greatest moment in his life. Show less «
