CIA Analyst and de facto assistant / aide to Agent Rex Matheson Esther is pulled into Miracle Day by her keen insight and natural curiosity. More suited to skimming blogs and tracking data she reluctantly joins Matheson on the run with Jack and Gwen after a faction within the CIA sets up Esther and Matheson as Chinese collaborators.Esther initially becomes involved in the investigation into Miracle Day and Torchwood after witnessing the erasure of the term Torchwood not only from CIA databanks but apparently from all systems in the world as an internet search for the term Torchwood reports zero results. Esther's spent six months compiling a CIA list of Malware and is intrigued by a program that could so thoroughly erase the term Torchwood.She assists Rex in traveling to the UK and tracking down Gwen Cooper in Wales as well as renditioning Jack and Gwen back to the U.S. She warns Matheson when they are both set up as traitors and helps Matheson, Gwen and Jack escape Dulles airport.She later admits to Gwen that she feels she's holding the team back and is worried about her older sister -an unstable person that Esther has cared for most of their lives - she and Gwen bond and become friends after Gwen encourages her and shows her kindness.Later as thanks Esther arranges for a short video chat between Gwen, Rhys, and baby Anwen.
