Mr. White acts as liaison and enforcer for a shadowy international criminal organization. (This organization is not named in CASINO ROYALE; it is referred to as Quantum in QUANTUM OF SOLACE.) He arranges the meeting between Ugandan warlord Obanno and Le Chiffre, a banker laundering money for terrorists and dictators. Eventually Mr. White assassinates Le Chiffre for betraying the organization. White is shot in the leg and captured by James Bond at the conclusion of CASINO ROYALE.Transported in the trunk of Bond's car, he is delivered to an MI6 safe house in Siena, Italy, at the beginning of QUANTUM OF SOLACE. Here Bond and M begin an interrogation of Mr. White, who reveals very little before escaping (with the help of turncoat bodyguard Mitchell). He is seen later at the opera in Bregenz, Austria, participating in the clandestine meeting of high-level Quantum operatives, but vanishes once Bond interferes.Mr. White is encountered by James Bond for the final time in SPECTRE, the 24th official 007 adventure. Bond tracks him to a remote cabin in the Austrian Tyrol, where he discloses that he is dying of Thalium poisoning -- a slow, torturous execution by his former employers. Bond also learns that Quantum was merely a subsidiary of the even larger, more dangerous Spectre organization, whose mysterious, all-powerful leader is everywhere .After securing Bond's promise to protect his innocent daughter, Mr. White commits suicide using Bond's Walther PPK.
