Haley Hotchner was portrayed by Meredith Monroe. When the show begins, she is the wife of SSA Aaron Hotch Hotchner (Thomas Gibson), Unit Chief of the FBI's BAU team. They met each other in high school and have been together ever since. In the first episode, she is pregnant. Later, she gives birth to a son, Jack. At first, Haley is very supportive and doesn't complain about her husband's very demanding job. As years go by however, she finds it harder and harder to cope with his long absences. Though she seems to still care deeply for Hotch, the uncertainties of his work with the BAU cause such friction that, in season 4, Haley leaves Hotch and, along with Jack, she moves in with her sister, Jessica (Molly Baker). The couple will soon divorce amicably. As of the Season 5 premiere episode, Faceless, Nameless , because of a potential threat from a serial killer known as The Reaper, Haley and Jack are moved to an undisclosed location, unknown even to Hotch, so that she can't be found by tracing communication between them.During the 100th episode, Haley is however tracked down by The Reaper. After murdering the US Marshall who was protecting her, the killer calls Haley, poses as another agent and convinces her to meet him at the house where she and Hotch lived during their marriage. When she realizes she has fallen into a trap, it is too late. The Reaper allows her one last phone call to Hotch and, while they're talking, he shoots her. Hotch arrives at the house too late to save Haley, but he is able to kill the Reaper and rescue Jack.
