Rasputin (1869-1916) was the Russian mystic largely responsible for the 1917 collapse of the Romanov dynasty. He has been the subject of several movies, including Rasputin: The Mad Monk (1966), Rasputin and the Empress (1932) and a 1996 TV movie Rasputin.He is the main villain of the comic book series, Hellboy and its 2004 movie adaptation. His undead form menaces the title heroine in the animated Anastasia (1997). On the lighter side, Rasputin is parodied as Rice-Puddin' the Mad Monk in the 1933 Warner Bros. cartoon, Wake Up the Gypsy in Me. He is one of many damned historical figures in the Willie Whooper cartoon, Hell's Fire (1934).
