Derek, who's actual name is Ian Banks, stalked Peyton and pretended to be her brother. His IM name was watchmewatchyou- the one he used to contact Peyton as he watched her web-cam site Punk and Disorderly . Lucas suspected that he had other intentions, and Peyton soon found out that Luke was right. Derek chases Peyton into her house and up to her bedroom when Lucas walks in and gets tazed by Derek. Peyton's actual brother comes to the rescue and Derek (Ian) is shoved out of her 2-story bedroom window. He escapes before the police arrive. The night of prom Derek returns and punches Peyton out, ties her up in her own basement, and proceeds to have his own creepy version of prom. Brooke shows up and also gets tied up. Peyton deceives Derek into untying her so she can kill Brooke , but then turns and stabs Derek. He chases Peyton up to her bedroom where she attacks and starts beating up Derek. Brooke shows up and they have the final showdown. He gets kicked down the stairs and then lunges at the girls- but Peyton knocks him out with one kick of her heel (square in the face). The police arrive and Derek (Ian) is locked up for good. The girls later visit him to get closure, and upon doing research about Ian's Texan life realize that his Peyton look-alike dead ex-girlfriend Maggie was killed in a car accident with him on the way to prom awhile back.
