Dave is a guitarist and self-proclaimed audio geek. He was the de facto leader of his, Lane's, Brian's, and Zach's band. After Lane joined the band in Season 3, they started going out. Of course, they realized Mrs Kim wouldn't have approved since he isn't Korean. So they pretended he was a Christian guitarist and Mrs Kim hired him to play for different family events several times. They hoped that she would get to know and love him, and that after a while it would be like the whole thing was her idea.The plan seems to be working, until Mrs Kim tries to set Lane up with a Korean boy named Young Chu. Panicking, Lane tells her mother she wants to go to prom with Dave, not Young Chu, but Mrs Kim simply says, He's not Korean. After things calm down, Lane and Dave get Young Chu to agree to break up with Lane after a few weeks. Lane will act heartbroken, making Mrs Kim feel so guilty that she'll let Dave take her to prom. The new plan snags when Young Chu falls in love with Lane and won't break up with her.Finally, Dave puts on a suit and makes a speech to Mrs Kim, asking for permission to take Lane to her prom. Her response is simply a quote. Dave assumes it's from the bible and spends all of that night looking for it. He comes back the following day, looking a mess, and begging to know what it means. Mrs Kim, however, is impressed when he says he read the entire bible in one night, and slightly grudgingly ives permission.Dave has a musically themed tattoo. He doesn't smoke or drink. He's never gotten a ticket. He flosses. He never watches more than half an hour of tv a day, partly because it's a waste of time and partly because there's nothing on. He does well in school. He doesn't play video games in case someday they do prove that they can turn you into a serial killer. He doesn't drink coffee. He doesn't drink soda because the carbonation freaks him out.He's described by Mrs Kim as a righteous young man who's proven he can be trusted around antique furniture. Dave has to leave the band after he graduates from high school to attend college in California. He is eventually replaced by Gil. Show less «
