Carietta Carrie White is a fictional character created by well-known horror writer Stephen King for his novel with the same name. She was born on September 21, 1963 to Margaret Brigham and Ralph White, and her grandparents were Judith and John Brigham. She lived in the fictional town of Chamberlain in Maine. Both of Carrie's parents were religious fanatics that thought intercourse in any way (even in marriage) is sinful. However, Carrie was conceived through a form of marital rape when Ralph attacked Margaret while drunk. Ralph died before Carrie was born (although in the 1976 version of the novel he abandons his wife for Barbara Lang) and Carrie was abused by her mother.Carrie, having been gifted the power of telekinesis, used her powers several times in her early childhood without knowing that she possesses such powers: Margaret found her (while she was still a baby) with a vase floating in front of her, and a major menace when she caused a meteor shower when her mother harried her harshly in the house away from topless, sunbathing neighbor girl named Estelle Horan, who was nicknamed whore of Babylon by Margaret and forced her into a prayer closet. Carrie grew up without friends, and the abusive treatment from her mother. She was always the butt of the jokes in school, and was picked on by a girl clique lead by spoiled rich girl Christine Chris Hargensen. The ones that didn't make fun of her just ignored her presence. When Carrie was 16, she experienced her first menstrual period while taking a shower after P.E. class. She thinks she is bleeding to death and has a nervous breakdown in the shower, leading to further humiliation by the girls in the locker room. The start chanting: Plug it up! and Period! Period! while throwing pads and tampons at her in the shower stall. The gym teacher, Rita Desjardin, learns from one of the other girls, Sue Snell, that Carrie just has her period, and she is shocked that Carrie doesn't know what a menstrual period is, and tries to calm her down.Ms. Desjardin later tells the school principal what happened, and even he was shocked that Carrie didn't know what a menstrual period was, and agrees that the girls involved should be disciplined. He gives Ms. Desjardin his permission to give the girls a week's P.E. detention. Chris Hargensen skips detention and she is banned from the upcoming senior prom. She thinks it is all Carrie's fault and swears revenge.Margaret White, Carrie's mother receives a phone call from the high school, and she punishes Carrie by forcing her into her prayer closet. She doesn't let her out until bedtime.Sue Snell, a girl that taunted Carrie, feels remorse for what she did and she asks her popular jock boyfriend, Tommy Ross to take Carrie to the prom in the hopes Carrie comes out of her shell and has fun. When Chris learns that Carrie is going to the prom, she and her sadistic boyfriend, Billy Nolan organize a plan for humiliation: they make sure that Carrie will be crowned prom queen, and then two buckets of pig blood will drench her in crimson, from the stage-rigging above the ceremony in the auditorium.Carrie fights with her mother about going to the prom, and even uses her telekinetic powers to force her mother out of her way. She sews a pink dress, and her mother wants her to take the dress off, burn it, and then go to her prayer closet to ask God for forgiveness. Carrie refuses and goes out on her date with Tommy Ross.Carrie arrives at the prom with Tommy, and has a good time while feeling accepted by her peers. Ms. Desjardin meets her and they chat a little. Tommy even teaches Carrie how to slow dance. However, as soon as Carrie and Tommy are announced as Queen and King and are crowned, Chris yanks the cord connected to the bucket of pig blood, leaving Carrie completely drenched. Carrie loses complete control of her telekinetic powers from the humiliation, causing all the doors to slam shut, followed by a fire, flood, and electrocution, causing 73 deaths - including Tommy's. Carrie then leaves the gymnasium while the fire burns the high school to the ground.Walking home, she brings destruction to Chamberlain and causes fires. Billy and Chris try to kill Carrie with their truck, but Carrie raises their truck in the air causing it to crash, killing them. After returning home, Carrie takes a bath to wash the blood off.
