BiographyOften the underdog, Bumblebee is known as the younger brother type of character among the Autobots, throughout the Transformers franchise.Bumblebee made his first on-screen appearance in the original Transformers animated series in the episode Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye: Part 1 (#1.1). In fact Bumblebee was the second Transformer ever seen on-screen. Wheeljack was the first. He was first seen on Cybertron as transforming into a yellow Cybertronian vehicle. But was later modified, along with the other Autobots, into the vehicles of Earth for their alternate modes. The form chosen for Bumblebee was that of a yellow Volkswagen Beetle. Bumblebee was known as the close ally of the humans, especially to Spike Witwicky. He was voiced by Dan Gilvezan.Bumblebee was one of the five Autobots featured in the 2007 live action film version Transformers from director Michael Bay. Sent to Earth as the protector of Sam Witwicky, Bumblebee chose the form of a 1977 Chevrolet Camaro, but later modified himself into a 2009 model of the same vehicle. His vocal processor was apparently damaged in battle, thus rendering him a mute throughout most of the movie. But, by the end of the movie, his voice had returned and he chose to stay on Earth with Sam. He was voiced by Mark Ryan for the two lines which he spoke.StatsName: BumblebeeAffiliation: AutobotFunction: ScoutAlternate Modes: Yellow Volkswagen Beetle. Yellow and Black 1977 Chevrolet Camaro. Yellow and Black 2009 Chevrolet Camaro.Height: 16 feet, 2 inches.Motto: The least likely can be the most dangerous. In the 2010 animated series, Transformers: Prime , Bumblebee is once again a yellow Camaro with black stripes and is again unable to speak. Instead of speech, he makes odd robotic whirly noises. However the young human he is charged with protecting, Raf, seems to be able to understand him. Raf is a computer genius, so it is arguable that Bumblebee is using a form of Binary Sound to communicate. He is also described by the show's creators as being very childlike. In the Transformers: Prime two part episode Operation: Bumblebee , It is revealed that the reason his voice box is permanently damaged is due to being captured, interrogated, beaten severely and left for dead by Megatron himself. Ratchet, The Chief Medical Officer of The Autobots, was able to save his live and able to make him nearly whole again, with the exception of his voice box. Shortly after, The Main Characters of this series ended up on earth where Ratchet simply doesn't have the proper technology to finish fixing him.
