Rodney was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He grew up there with his Police father, Grandparents and older brother Robert. While he was in high school he was a co-host/dancer on Philly's Dance Party USA for two years. He made his Broadway debut as part of the Original Cast of the Broadway show 'Rent'. The New cast Recording of the hit 2006 Off-Broadway Revival "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris" is in stores. Rodney will be playing Benny, come September, in the show he made his Broadway debut in at the age of 21, Rent on Broadway.In 2010, Hicks was part of the Original Off Broadway and Broadway Cast of The Scottsboro Boys as Clarence Norris. The show was Directed and Choreographed by Susan Stroman with music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb. The show was nominated for 12 Tony Awards. In the Fall of 2011, he became the first African American to play the role of Curly McClain in a New Production of Oklahoma that was the first to feature an All Black Cast. This critically acclaimed production was presented by Portland Center Stage in Portland, OR and directed by Chris Coleman. Show less «
