The series follows a group of people born on the same day, including Rebecca (Moore) and Jack (Ventimiglia), a married couple expecting triplets in Pittsburgh, and Kevin (Hartley), a handsome television actor growing bored of his fly bachelor lifestyle, as their paths cross and lives intertwine.
It surely can't be an accident that an innocent-seeming trip to the pool is used as a framing device for this episode examining the ramifications of a black boy being raised by white parents.
While some of us may have worried about the functionality of the dual timeliness, I think The Pool is an example of how the technique works remarkably well.
But there they are, all five of them huddled together, comforted in the arms of their family. Man, this show knows how to put a heartwarming button on an episode, doesn't it?
