The series follows a group of people born on the same day, including Rebecca (Moore) and Jack (Ventimiglia), a married couple expecting triplets in Pittsburgh, and Kevin (Hartley), a handsome television actor growing bored of his fly bachelor lifestyle, as their paths cross and lives intertwine.
So many episodes of This is Us have been about marriage, the fights that happen between two people as well as the love, and this episode is -- compared to others -- much more subdued in what it is able to get across.
As the rest of the episode illustrates, falling in love is often an instantaneous thing, a thunderbolt moment - but falling out of love can be a slow process, and it takes practice.
First comes love. Then comes marriage. Then comes... complications. For Jack and Rebecca. For Kevin and Sophie. Even for Randall and Beth. And bubble baths and lava fries can't always fix everything.
Randall is really having a rough go of things. This is distressing because I think we've all come to the agreement that Randall is the light of our lives and we would all very much like to be wrapped up in his strong arms.
