The writers of this show know how to keep the storylines fresh and exciting and constantly reveal more nuances of each character, but perhaps just as importantly, they're not afraid to take a gamble.
As the show has gone on to find its voice in the craziest ways and maturing past its modest start, it almost feels like a gateway show for Adult Swim, acting as an example of what was possible.
The plots are too random and scattered for casual viewers, and fans of the show know that the plots are only devices for delivering character-based comedy, which can be hilarious given you can keep track of them all.
A show that is still incredibly creative but doesn't click like it used to do every week... It's not that The Venture Bros. isn't good any more. It's still damn funny, but it used to be absolutely brilliant.
By this season - the show's fourth - things get a little hard to follow... However, that doesn't mean the show is lazy or unappealing. Four years in and The Venture Bros. continues to bring its sharp sense of style
At this point, Venture Bros. has evolved past a Hardy Boys/Johnny Quest pastiche and is now becoming full-blown pop archaeology... The show's annotations need annotations, and that is why we love it.
Venture Bros.' brilliance lies partly in this ability to connect its Saturday morning cartoon zaniness back to things that are normal and tangible... Behind everything, Venture Bros. is about a family coming to grips with itself.
