The season continues the story of Olivia Pope's crisis management firm, Olivia Pope & Associates, and its staff, as well as staff at the White House in Washington D.C. Fitz was re-elected for a second term, Harrison met a shocking end, and Olivia Pope and Associates shut its doors as its namesake left Washington D.C. on a plane with Jake, destination unknown.
Rhimes' script is a triumph of subtlety following last season's histrionics, and suggests a better understanding that Scandal can and should be a rollercoaster, but it can't be all drops and no climbs.
