In this season, the seventies are in full swing and sexual experimentation is all the rage. Masters and Johnson should be celebrating, but their clinic is in legal trouble, their personal lives are in tatters and their relationship is on the rocks.
Masters of Sex Season 4 is one-half return to form, the other half a full-hearted experiment to breathe new life into the series that is sure to satisfy longtime viewers.
Any opportunity to see more characters significantly expand the Masters of Sex world sounds good to me. I'm planning to keep watching, but the show's definitely been given a warning.
With Sheen and Caplan, and the amount of historical material still to cover, I'm hopeful that Masters of Sex can at least be more watchable again, even if it doesn't return to the creative heights of that first season.
Maybe Season 4 will get better overnight, but based on the early sampling, Masters of Sex feels like a show that would have been better had it wrapped up the story concisely, as a limited series.
