Lillis, who has built a career on playing younger versions of A-list redheads, proves that she's on track to have that sort of career herself, delivering vulnerability, wit and occasionally real sweetness in the lead role.

What makes the show as watchable as it is for most of its compact first season is the sheer magnetism and comic verve of Sophia Lillis, and the chemistry she has with her friend and fellow It alum Wyatt Oleff.
There's a version... where the series was 12 episodes long rather than eight... Instead, we have... this. And while I absolutely am okay with this, it's only okay - and I'm very regretful that we didn't get the brilliant show it could have been.
I Am Not Okay With This ventures into the realms of sci-fi and horror but is at its best when it portrays teenage social anxiety and heartaches regardless of its rather forgettable supernatural elements.
"I Am Not Okay With This" may not surprise you much, but it has charm and voice to spare. And bucking the streaming-TV bloat trend, it runs seven energetic episodes of around twenty minutes apiece.
At first, compared to its rival shows, I Am Not Okay With This feels a bit ... low stakes... But it soon becomes clear that Syd's new supernatural powers might be fuelled not by grief but by the raging horn for her best friend, Dina.
Sci-fi and coming-of-age fantasy stories have become a major subgenre for Netflix Originals, but I Am Not Okay With This may be the first to take an approach that's couched in intimacy, not spectacle.
A classic Netflix power coupling of Stranger Things' producers with The End of the F***ing World's Jonathan Entwistle combines the worst of both worlds. You've seen it all before, but better.
