Black Lightning - Season 1 Episode 10: Sins of the Father: The Book of Redemption
The show centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: he hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he'll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.
"Sins Of The Father: The Book Of Redemption" in particular, and Black Lightning more generally, is all about how history not only informs the present in a concrete way, but also our perspective on what that present means.
It is amazing how music has the ability to explain the intricacies of a scene, which is what we see when this episode begins with Drowning by Mick Jenkins.
"Sins of the Father: The Book of Redemption" was one of the best episodes of this superhero drama series to date. It successfully refocused the series and pulled me right back in.
