The eighth season revolves around new tracks and different schemes by Oliver and Tia. As a result of these tasks, the duo find themselves looking into a familiar maze of seemingly unexpected catacombs. Over time, both John's partner and Lila enter the previously planned special operations mission.
This character-driven piece was successful in its attempts to reflect, while also managing to move the pieces on the chessboard in a somewhat unexpected direction - setting the stage for an even more interesting second half.
The show's sense of history and constant grappling with Oliver's past actions is one of its hallmarks, and that feeling is even stronger in the final season, which is indeed hitting all of the greatest hits. This was strongly felt in tonight's episode.
