Crime is down, people feel safer, and Captain Lance even calls off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Oliver believes he can finally have a private life and asks Felicity out on a date. But the second Oliver takes his eye off the ball, a deadly villain reappears in Starling, forcing Oliver to realize that he can never be Oliver Queen – not as long as the city needs The Arrow. In Season Three, Oliver faces an even greater threat, when another lethal face emerges from his dark and tortured past – Ra’s Al Ghul!
"The Magician" proves to be a solid, character-focused episode, more concerned with interior conflict than the kind of globe-hopping action we saw in "Corto Maltese" last week.
The episode evokes a great deal of the past, but it's the future - and the coming of Ra's al Ghul - that will stay with us as we wait for the next clue as to who killed Sara Lance.
Obviously the death of Sara and the mystery of her murderer is the central plot arc to at least the first half of this season, and they're doing quite well with the pacing, writing, and folding in of supporting characters.
