Xander Harris (Nicholas Brendon)Xander Harris is a student at Sunnydale High. He has been best friends with Willow Rosenberg since childhood. He has also long harbored a crush on pretty, popular cheerleader Cordelia Chase who won't give him the time of day except to mock his loser status in school.When it is discovered the the newly arrived student Buffy Summers is vampire slayer, he and Willow team up with Buffy and her Watcher Rupert Giles to fight the demons of Sunnydale.He is clever with pop culture jokes and generally witty. His jokes often come from the heart, but also, sometimes harshly, from what he sees as truth that his friends want to avoid. Xander pokes fun at others and also at himself, often as a self-defense mechanism before others can.He comes from a dysfunctional home with parents who are absent much of the time, drink too much, bicker often, and do not appear to appreciate or support him.Xander is a good and loyal friend and even though he may not be physically gifted he does what he can to be a valuable contributor to the gang.
