Angel (David Boreanaz)Angel is a vampire who is over 200 years old.Originally from Ireland, after travelling the world he ended up in Sunnydale, location of the Hellmouth, where all manner of demonic and bestial things are drawn.He meets Buffy Summers shortly after she arrives at school, appearing and disappearing to her seemingly out of thin air at crucial points. At first he seems nothing more than a mysterious and helpful friend but Buffy soon learns Angel is a vampire, her sworn enemy. For reasons that are not immediately clear, Angel seems to be a good vampire. He is also a very good-looking vampire, a fact not lost on Buffy or her friends in the vampire-slaying business, aka the Scooby Gang. Angel is literally an old soul, he has seen much in his lifetime and his undead time and is given to brooding over the past. That past assures that he is tortured by demons, both literally and figuratively.He is very serious but can crack the occasional joke, is clever, skilled, and determined to live the life that was thrust upon him.He was formerly known as Angelus.
