On stage, Sophie is the worst actress imaginable. But when she's in the middle of a con and playing a character opposite real people, she can give a performance that pulls the wool over just about anyone's eyes. Sophie is beautiful and sophisticated, and she has more than just a passing fancy for Nate. But their past relationship seems to be water under the bridge, which is why she has taken a new boyfriend as the show begins its second season. The team relies on her skills, such as her ability to speak six languages and fake twelve more. But the team is also cautious about trusting her too much, especially after she tried to con them out of a priceless work of art.Sophie frustrates every member of the team at one time or another, yet her earnestness eventually wins them back. She wants everyone around her to be happy and is the 'Mama Hen' of the team. She truly enjoys her job, yet in genuine interaction with people she cares for she expresses more honesty, more genuine interest and flat-out more of herself than any of the other characters manage, save perhaps Eliot. She is the least closed-off of any member of the team in the moment, yet her past remains a closed and entirely forbidden subject. She refuses even to tell Nate her true name, forcing him to guess alias after alias. She is a sharp, determined grifter who accomplishes what she sets her mind to doing. She is admirable in her tenacity. The fact that the team took her back after she fooled them into attempting to steal the art that she wanted for herself says it all, really.
