Sarah Braverman (Lauren Graham)Sarah Braverman is a single mom to two teenagers, Amber and Drew. She is the daughter of Zeek and Camille Braverman, and sister to Adam, Crosby, and Julia.Sarah was something of wayward soul. She never finished college and married a musician with substance abuse problems at young age, Seth Holt, the father to her kids, although he never proved to be much of a father. She never really got a career together and is now divorced. Working as a bartender she runs into financial trouble and heads back to live with her parents, Amber and Drew in tow.The kids are reaching an age when they are beginning to rebel, particularly Amber, and Sarah is struggling to keep it together as well as have some semblance of a romantic life and find a job. She had worked as a graphic artist designing posters and other items for rock bands and hopes to get back into that as a career but without a degree is finding it troublesome.Sarah is smart, funny, and good-hearted if a little misguided about how to properly be an adult as she approaches 40. She is close with her siblings, particularly Adam who is often bailing her out of trouble. She is grateful to her parents for taking her and her kids in but that doesn't keep her from butting heads with them about the way she lives her life.
