Priam was the king of Troy (or Ilion) in western Anatolia during the time of the Trojan War according to Greek legend. He was married to Hecuba, the daughter of the Phrygian king Dymas, and they had many children together. The most famous of these were Hector (the great hero was eventually killed by Achilles), Paris (who abducted Helen from Sparta, but was also killed late in the war), and Cassandra (the prophetess who was cursed to never be heeded, and who was taken by King Agamemnon as a concubine after conquering Troy).According to a Welsh tradition dating to the 9th century of the Christian Era, Priam had a great-great-grandson named Brutus, who was elleged to have travelled beyond Gaul, and, finding a large island, he promptly named it after himself (Britain), and populated it with his descendants.
