Liza Ortiz is the ex-wife to Travis Manawa and the mother to Chris Manawa. Liza is a nurse? No...sorry Liza is a nursing student who is now pretending to be an actual medical professional because apparently she thinks she's qualified for that after taking night classes for a year or two. Anyway, Liza married Travis shortly after he returned from his fateful time in the military. Unfortunately, she was not well equipped to handle the bad dreams that Travis was prone to. One night, Travis had an especially vivid dream that caused him to thrash about in the bed. Liza, thinking he was making some sort of violent attack on her, hit him in the face with a nearby frying pan. Why was there a frying pan near their bed? I don't know. Anyway, that's why Travis looks like Rocky Dennis from the Mask. So, after the frying pan incident, Travis's dreams miraculously stopped and things were pretty normal for a while. Then little Chris was born and things got bad again. Liza lost her mind for a bit and was convinced that Chris was possessed by some sort of weird Mexican demon. Travis eventually had to have her committed where she was slowly brought back to normalcy. Inspired by the doctors and nurses who helped her Liza decided to become a nurse. She also never forgave Travis for having her committed. After years of passive-aggressively hating each other the two decided to divorce. Liza, a chronic sufferer of RBF, was granted custody of Chris and now they live together in a crappy apartment near Liza's night school. Show less «
