(Once Upon a Time) Daughter of Maleficent. When Maleficent was a dragon, she laid an egg. While Lily was still in her egg, Snow White and Prince Charming kidnapped her to ensure that their daughter would be pure of light, free of any potential for darkness. The cost for this desire proved to be quite higher than planned, as the Apprentice cast the darkness into the baby Lily, and then cast her away to a world where she couldn't harm anyone.Little did anyone outside of the Apprentice know of the cycle that this had created between Lily and Emma. After being cast into another realm, which turned out to be our realm, Lily was adopted by a family and raised. However, growing up this proved hard to Lily, as she never felt like she truly fit in. She took to running away, which in turn resulted in her encountering Emma Swan as a child.Helping Emma steal groceries, the two became friends and broke into a house to squat in. When it was found out that Lily was running from her family (as opposed to being an orphan like Emma as she had said), an enraged Emma turned her back on Lily. The two encountered each other again sometime later after Emma was brought to live with a family. Lily had hid out in the garage to seek Emma's help in retrieving a necklace, much to Emma's reluctance since she was enjoying her new family. However, when Emma returned after retrieving the necklace, her foster parents had revealed that Lily had stolen the vacation money and left, causing Emma to leave after harsh words by her foster father. As Emma was gearing to leave, Lily appeared once more, apologizing for everything. At that point however, Emma was done listening and left Lily to look out for herself. However, fate turned out to be an unusual thing as Lily was on a bus, and the Apprentice sat next to her and explained everything about her life and who she was, propelling Lily to go in a completely different direction with her life.30 years later, Lily is a grown woman going by the name of Starla, seemingly happy in her new role in life. Emma is searching for Lily, only to find that she's dead and later encounters Starla in coffee shop/gas station after being led there by fate. When Emma encounters her, Lily puts on an act to make it seem like she's okay despite everything, and bribes a kid to walk with her to make it seem as if she even has a child. When Emma and Regina go to her house, they confirm that it's all an act, only to find that Lily knows absolutely everything about Storybrooke and its residents, and is seeking revenge...which is proven more when she steals Emma's car to drive there.Emma manages to stop Lily from reaching Storybrooke and puts a gun to her former friend's head, only to back down and spare her life and bring her into Storybrooke. In Storybrooke, she's reunited with her mother Malificent, and is genuinely surprised that her own mother isn't seeking revenge on Snow White and Prince Charming for what they did to her. Angry, she leaves the diner and waits to take a bus out of Storybrooke. She's then encountered by Regina, who prods at her before taking her blood to fill the Author's ink, claiming her darkness belongs to Emma. This causes Lily to fall into an unstoppable rage which causes her to transform into a dragon. After being encountered by her mother and Snow/Charming and knocking Snow against a rock, she eventually transforms back to herself. Her mother and her have a better reunion this time, and everything seems well.In the AU: She's the lone black knight that guards the tower that Emma is trapped in. She doesn't seem to remember her life before being pushed into the author's alternate universe, and is stopped by Hook when she and other guards attempt to stop him and Emma.Back out of the alternate universe, she talks to Emma about not knowing who her father was, but that the necklace is a souvenir because it's part of the egg that she hatched from.
