The Sheriff of Nottingham is one of the villains from the Robin Hood stories.When the King of Sherwood, Richard the Lionhearted, left to fight in the Crusades, the evil Prince John and his cohort, the Sheriff of Nottingham, took over the kingdom and imposed a tyrannical rule, oppressing people with high taxes and unfair laws. Thus, the nobleman Robin of Locksley decided to move deep into the woods, called himself Robin Hood, and used a bow and arrows to fight corruption and injustice.In the end, Robin defeated the Sheriff and Prince John, and when King Richard came back, he thanked Robin and made him a knight in his court.The story of Robin Hood has been adapted many times. The most famous ones include the Erroll Flynn version, the Kevin Costner version and the Disney animated version, that featured anthropomorphic animals in the main roles.The Disney version of the Sheriff appears as a guest in House of Mouse , and is one of the Disney villains featured in House of Villains .
