Kenzi - Survivor and Thief Thief, Grifter, Survivor Kenzi is a female Sherlock Holmes with a sweet tooth for fashion and crime. Kenzi is Bo's best friend and nobody's fool. A fierce human with a fierce sense of loyalty and even fiercer sense of humor, Kenzi is the only person Bo can count on to always have her back.Kenzi's full name is Mackenzie Malikov, and she was born in 1991. It appears as if her father died when she was very young, and eventually her mother remarried. Her stepfather was not a nice man. Kenzi once said he locked her in a closet just for laughing. Her extended family appears to be quite large, with a lot of cousins and other relatives. Many of them appear to be involved in some sort of criminal activity, including connections to the mob. The family is of Russian descent, a language Kenzi is fluent in.When she was growing up she developed a crush on an older boy named Nate, a neighbor of hers. He moved away when she was 6. She started running away from home when she was 10 years old, unable to take her stepdad any longer. He was made worse by the fact that her mother never did anything to help her. At age 15 she ran away from home, this time never coming back. She lived on the street for the next 4 years. Kenzi had become a good thief and con artist at a young age because of her family. These skills helped her now that she was on her own. While she had a few friends, life was not easy. One night while pick pocketing patrons at a hotel bar, she didn't notice one of them spike her drink. Luckily for her, she was saved from her attacker by the bartender, a woman named Bo.While frightened at first by Bo's supernatural abilities, she was grateful for her help. Kenzi quickly latched on to Bo. While initially a little irritated, Bo realized the type friend she had made when Kenzi risked her life to help Bo, after the Fae had captured her. At Kenzi's urging, they formed a Fae private detective agency, to help other people and Fae. Bo and Kenzi quickly became best of friends, and they soon made more friends. These included Dyson, Trick, Lauren, and Hale. Kenzi was usually slower to trust them than Bo, but she soon warmed to most, though had continuing reservations about Lauren. She did quickly become good friends with Hale, as they were both sidekicks to their respective partners. Kenzi became much closer to Dyson after she was poisoned, and he stood by her side while she nearly died. While investigating one case, she developed feelings for a Fae that knew someone had been hired to kill him. She tried to help him, but he died anyway, which was a painful loss. She recovers though, and she helps Bo fight her mother.After Aife is beaten, Kenzi and Bo continue to solve cases together. While planning Bo a birthday party, she runs into Nate, her childhood neighbor. They soon start a relationship, but it isn't easy because she can't let him find out about the Fae. When the fight with the Garuda begins to reach its zenith, she starts to worry about his safety. Kenzi decides to fight along side Bo, rather then leave with Nate. So she breaks up with him, lying to him by telling him that she didn't love him. Kenzi then decides to get Dyson out of his depression, by getting his love back. While doing this she knocks a kitsune's powers, that the Norn had taken, on her arm. Despite being heartbroken about her breakup, she still helps Bo defeat the Garuda. Again she nearly dies, this time from a stab wound caused by one the Garuda's henchman. Hale is able to save her however.The Kitsune powers that she knocked on her arm begins to cause a rash. At first she hides it, not wanting to break the news to Bo that she got Dyson's love back for him. Eventually she does try to tell her friends, but they are too busy dealing with their own problems to listen. Kenzi is then taken by the Kitsune, named Inari. While Kenzi is chained in a cave, Inari tries to take her place in the group. Eventually Bo finds out and rescues her, with Tamsin's and Dyson's help. While she continues to help Bo, her self confidence now begins to waver. She begins to think that she is weak, and a liability to her friends. So when Evony declares that claimed humans are terrorists, she heads to the druid Massimo to see if he can give her Fae powers.He only uses her desperation against her, giving her fake powers, while demanding increasingly large payments. She has to return to stealing to pay him. At this time everyone's memory of Bo has been erased. Kenzi, Dyson, and Hale are eventually able to get that reversed. Dyson gets Bo back, and Bo then helps get their stuff back from Massimo, with him seemingly dying. Things continue to get better when Kenzi and Hale start their long delayed relationship. She sees her mom for the first time since she ran from home, after Hale invited them over. Her mom tells her that she has broken up with her stepdad, and then Hale proposes to her. The happy moment is ruined when she finds out her mom lied. Kenzi kicks her out, upset at her Mom for lying, but also pitying her for her weakness . Kenzi tells Hale that she wants to wait till she says yes to his proposal, but doesn't say no either. Happiness turns to tragedy when Massimo shows up for revenge. Attacking Kenzi and managing to kill Hale when he tries to protect her. Massimo is able to do this because of the Twig of Zamora, that Kenzi gave him as payment for her fake powers. Kenzi is devastated, and her friendship with Bo is threatened when Bo can't bring back Hale. Due to all the problems going on in her life, Bo is unable to talk to the increasingly depressed Kenzi. Dyson locks up Massimo, only to have Vex let him go, after Kenzi leads him down there. She intended to have him kill Massimo. Kenzi, in a full emotional spiral, makes Bo unclaim her, and then leaves. Though she is still upset, the coming of Bo's dad and worried about a missing Lauren, cause her to return to help. Kenzi finds out by reading from an ancient book that the only way to close the portal that Bo's father is trying to get through is for Bo to sacrifice her Heart. Kenzi knows that Bo's heart is actually her, so she keeps this information to herself. She waits as long as she can, and then sacrifices herself to close the portal. Show less «
