Keith Mars (Enrico Colantoni)Keith Mars is Veronica's dad.He used to be the Sheriff of Balboa County, California, which includes Neptune.When he accused wealthy Neptune resident Jake Kane of killing his daughterVeronica's best friend Lillyan emergency recall election resulted in him being booted him from office. He was further made to look like a fool when another man, Abel Koontz, confessed to the murder.This scandal helped to ostracize both Keith from the community and Veronica from her friends at Neptune High School.Keith then opened a private detective agency, at which he employed Veronica for help on cases.Keith and Veronica have a very strong, father-daughter bond, and are fiercely protective of one another. This relationship was cemented in part by the Kane murder scandal and the fact that Lianne, Keith's wife and Veronica's mother, left them during that turbulent time. Although the two occasionally butt heads, because they are very similar, they have a warm relationship.Keith is a very capable private detective and was also a very capable sheriff. He is smart, crafty, tenacious, and fearless. He has a very solid moral compass which doesn't mean he won't occasionally bend a rule to get things done and see justice served.Keith favors Italian food, is a movie buff, and loves jazz and classic rock and soul.
