George was an employee at The Shop Around the Corner, a children's bookstore on Manhattan's Upper West Side. After the store closed, he became head of the children's book department at the nearby Fox Books Superstore. George considers the Internet to be just another way to be rejected by a woman , but still seems to have an active social life. For a big date, he likes his six-room, rent-controlled apartment to smell mossy.Note: George's last name is not mentioned in the film or shown in the credits. According to an earlier version of the screenplay, the big date he mentioned was with a detective he met while she was investigating the Rooftop Killer case. It's not clear whether this character is his Thanksgiving date, played by Reiko Aylesworth.
