Female Q (Suzie Plakson) is a member of the Q Continuum. She claims to be 5 billion years old and to have spent 4 billion of those years in an eternal association with Q (John de Lancie, hereafter just Q), but there is no way to validate the accuracy of these numbers, or even to show that time measured in years is meaningful to the Q ContinuumIt seems logical to suppose that the gender of Female Q is a metaphor for some aspect of her existence that is complementary to Q's nature. (Q once told Picard that he might just as easily have appeared in female form, so the notion that the Q have literal genders seems unlikely. Furthermore, the Q have demonstrated a tendency to present aspects of their continuum to humanoids through metaphorical constructs.) One thing that is known is that Q and Female Q were able to jointly reproduce.Female Q seems to have retained an attachment to Q following their break-up, manifested in part by jealousy and in part by what seemed like genuine concern for his fate. She also showed the arrogance and contempt for humanoid species that characterizes many members of the Q Continuum. Her judgmental nature apparently also applied to her own son , whom she disavowed over what was considered behavior unworthy of a Q. It is unknown whether she was reconciled with her family after the younger Q showed the potential to reform.
