Dwight Schrute is what you may consider the office oddball, and the target of the majority of Jim's pranks. He is intelligent, self-sufficient, loyal and successful at Dunder Mifflin, winning top salesman on a number of occasions. He lives on his own beet farm with his cousin Mose.As a top salesman, his economical talents really shows off. For example he bought the day for Christmas a dozen of populair dolls to sell them to 'bad' fathers who need last-minute gifts. He knows a great deal about bears and science-fiction, and this is frequently referenced throughout the series. He sees himself as Michael's number 2 in the office, referring to himself as Assistant Regional Manager when in fact he is Assistant to the Regional Manager. He is not taken seriously in the office, but he takes himself and Dunder Mifflin very seriously. In season two Dwight began a secret relationship with Angela Martin of accounting, and even after they break up he is shown to continue to be in love with her. He and Jim are frequently at odds, but in later seasons their rivalry is less hostile and they are shown to be 'friends', Dwight hugs him after he quits and the pair are shown to be very good at managing sales calls together.Dwight was initially enemies with Andy Bernard after Scranton absorbed Stamford, both are kiss-ups who cling to meaningless titles in an effort to prove their superiority. Dwight is shown to be more intelligent that Andy on several occasions, including getting him to sell his car for less that it's value as well as using him for information on Angela after she begins dating Andy.Dwight is essentially kind, and means well, however he is just socially inept. We see his kindness when he comforts Pam in the lobby when she is crying, and even when he kills Angela's cat, seeing it as putting it out of its misery.Dwight's middle name is Kurt. Also, he would be Dwight Schrute III if you don't count his great grandfather (Dwide Schrude), who's name is essentially the same but spelled differently.Schrute is a former Lackawanna County volunteer sheriff's deputy. He is bilingual: he speaks preindustrial, mostly religious German. He also worked with Ryan Howard on his diabolical plan to destroy Jim Halpert. The co-operation between them didn't go very well, due to Ryan's tardiness, thus Dwight reveals that his next diabolical plan will be against Ryan.
