Robert Bob Cratchit was an accounting clerk, who worked for Ebeneezer Scrooge, during December, 1843, and January, 1844. He worked hard at his job, nearly every day, almost all day, in the counting house, where Scrooge also worked. He was overworked. And he was only given fifteen shillings a week for his work. He was underpaid.Bob was a lower middle class citizen. He lived with his wife, Mrs. Cratchit, and with their children (Martha, Belinda, Peter, their brother, their sister, and Tiny Tim), in Camden Town, London, England. He was really quite nervous, and very polite. He tried hard to look after his family, for he loved them. But it was difficult, because of the amount of time he was given with them, and the amount of money he needed for them to be happy.Scrooge took out most of his misery upon Bob, as he spent most of his time with him. However, since Christmas Day, 1843, Scrooge has been very kind to Bob, and has made a big effort to support the Cratchit family, by making him work less, and paying him more.
