Tirgu Mures (Romanian); Marosvásárhely (Hungarian) is the seat of Mures County in the north-central part of Romania. As of 2011 the city had a population of 127,849 inhabitants, being the 16th largest city in Romania. At the time he was born the county (so the city itself as well) was belonging to Hungary.
