Monique was born and raised in Lansing, MI. She attended Butler University in Indianapolis, studying dance, and had high hopes of pursuing a concert dance career after college. However, her path changed dramatically when she became the choreographer for the Indiana Pacemates, the professional dance team for the NBA's Indiana Pacers. After working for nine seasons with the Pacemates, Monique began her performing career, working in many shows at Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre in Indianapolis. Also during this time, she spent a season as a company member with the Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre. While she enjoyed performing "at home," she eventually booked her first job out of town and joined the international tour of Fosse, where she had the amazing opportunity to travel to Paris and the U.K. and share the stage with Ben Vereen and Ruthie Henshall. After the tour, Monique moved to NYC and is successfully pursuing her musical theatre career. She has performed in productions at Papermill Playhouse, Theatre Under The Stars, Huntington Theatre, and the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Her favorite role has been playing Anita in West Side Story. She has had the privilege of performing in several Broadway Bares Fundraisers and raising money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids. You can also find Monique in the film adaptation of The Last Five Years.Monique lives in Forest Hills, NY with her husband, trombonist Brian Troiano, and their sweet kitty, Hershey. When she is not working as a performer, she is also a fitness professional, working as a personal trainer and teaching group fitness classes. Show less «
