Kortnee Darnell Simmons was born on June 22, 1993, in Poughkeepsie, New York. He is the middle of three children to a gospel singer mother, Imogene (Jeanna), from New York, and a gospel singer father (who did not raise him) Willie Rumph II, from Florida. After graduating from high school, Kortnee enrolled at Harvard University, intent on a career in Government. However, his love for acting caught up with him and the bug bit him once again. Living in Florida, he decided New York was the place for him to be to achieve his dreams of following in the path of his idols: Denzel Washington, Phylicia Rashaad, and Robert Townsend; so he moved back in November of 2012. His first paid professional acting role after returning to New York was at Viacom. The production was TeenNick Top 10 alongside Nick Cannon, a video countdown show that airs every Friday evening at 10 PM EST. With not much experience in television, Kortnee decided to continue training while garnering experience doing school, local, and educational theater. With former popularity from his music, his acting career began to take precedence in the latter part of 2015. His career to date has afforded him the adoration of over 89k fans on Twitter, over 1M views on VEVO, and over 100k plays on Soundcloud. Most recently, Kortnee has been hired to write and produce several viral videos for the Dynamite app. He is also working on a new web-series, "Midnight's Coven" which he will write, produce, direct, and star in.Kortnee lives in West Hurley, NY where he works on new musical projects with his mother Imogene, and brother Alex.
