Darrell Lake, a Sierra Leone native was born abroad in England. At age nine he was forced to flee his beloved country when devastating war broke out in 1999. His family sought refuge in Guinea, The Gambia, Ghana and Eritrea, for four years before moving back to Sierra Leone. During that time, he became enthralled with the unique and diverse cultures he was immersed in. It was also during these travels that he came to the inevitable conclusion that he wanted to tell stories that captured the humanity he witnessed. The spellbinding, dynamic essence that makes up a person's life, through hopeless times and times of joy. Upon his return to Sierra Leone, he began writing scripts, short stories and training as an actor. He quickly realized the limitations of a career in filmmaking in his country. After years of hard work and hope, Darrell was able to move to the United States to pursue his dreams. Today Darrell is living his dreams! As an actor, his rich, vast life experience flows out of his soul on to the screen. As a writer, he crafts his struggle to comprehend life, his quest to be understood and his thoughts into masterful works of timeless art.
