Born in Surrey, British Columbia, Andrew Samuel Tkach first fell in love with the idea of becoming an actor when he saw Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade as a young boy. Prior to performing in his dad's annual plays for the local Mormon church Andrew's first designation was to hold up cue cards at the front of the stage during the actual live performances. When he was 18 he studied for several months at The Bruhanski Acting Studio in nearby Vancouver and continued, into his twenties, to engage himself in many plays in the greater Vancouver area. He would then go on to study film technique with the likes of Marc Baur, Mark Brandon and Peter Bryant as well as immersing himself in the vibrant, independent local film scene.
