Tyrant tells the story of the youngest son of a Middle Eastern dictator who returns to his homeland after 20 years and is immediately thrown back into the politics of his youth. In season 2, Barry awaits punishment for leading a failed coup, while Jamal agonizes over whether or not to execute him. Molly fights to secure Barry';;;;;;;;;;;;;s freedom before it';;;;;;;;;;;;;s too late.
This project from Gideon Raff and Howard Gordon suddenly exhibits the potential to become a fairly entertaining one, with the disclaimer that the terrain still contains an abundance of storytelling sand traps.
Tyrant may be afraid to follow through with some of its most incendiary plot threads, but season two already feels fully-formed, less of a mirage of ideas and promises like last year and more of an actual, richly realized vision.
