There She Goes is a very realistic view of parenthood, and of the hardships and joys of raising someone with special needs. It's hilarious and tough to take, just like parenthood is, and that's a good thing.
A mere formality, this, but of course Tennant and Hynes are every bit as sensitive and engaging as you'd expect in this, and work exceptionally well together.
There She Goes is a triumph, itch-lousy with one-liners, heartache, bathos, curses and much spilt milk, as far from mawkish as, say, David Sedaris is from the language of Hallmark cards.
It couldn't be more well-meaning if it tried, and the performances of Hynes and Tennant are lovely... But what is a drama for, if not to entertain? This one never quite does that.
