The X-Files - Season 11 Episode 10: My Struggle IV
'The truth is out there,' and FBI agents Scully and Mulder seek it in this sci-fi phenomenon about their quest to explain the seemingly unexplainable. Their strange cases include UFO sightings, alien abductions and just about anything else paranormal. The tales were spooky and well-written, but the long-running cult favorite's strength was a gallery of intriguing (when they weren't just enigmatic) characters, and the dynamic---and intense bond---between believer Mulder and skeptic Scully.
"My Struggle IV" wasn't exactly the best close out for the show, but its focus on William (and not the global pandemic plot) allowed it to rise above the other mythology episodes from these revival seasons.

Wednesday's season finale likely spells the finish for the show as we've known it, and provided welcome elements of closure, however rushed and flat-out goofy some of them felt.
"My Struggle IV'"feels more like a great undoing to open the series up to the possibility of more than it does a definitive end. That being said, it can still work as a series finale, albeit one born more from fatigue than the pursuit of satisfaction.
After 25 years, 11 seasons, two movies, and so much drama, it feels impossible to ever say goodbye to The X-Files. But if this is the final send-off, it's one we can accept.
