The Messengers is a fantasy series about the coming Rapture and the five new angels forced to join forces to fight the devil himself. But it's sunk by sinfully hokey plot twists.
The oddest thing about The Messengers is that its tone is somehow askew, like a dress that looks amazing on the rack but doesn't quite fit when worn by an actual human being.
Could The Messengers deliver some kind of coherent story without sensationalizing, or worse, trivializing the beliefs of millions? Who knows? But skipping it shouldn't be the end of the world.
