It's also wonderful to see Wes Chatham get to play Amos in such disparate environments-our favorite muscle man goes on a series of excellent adventures, including quietly self-reflective ones.
On one hand everything about it seems even more expansive... At the same time, though, the microgravity of the space stations and asteroid-mining colonies in our own solar system keep things kind of earthy.
Both our characters and the system at large are in a battle for their very souls, which makes for compelling potential energy for the rest of the season.
Season 5, happily, makes up for that enthusiasm, striking the right balance between organic fervor and genuine meaning midway through the opening trio of episodes and sticking to it for the rest of the run.
The fact that this works as well as it does is both a testament to the quality of the source material, and proof positive of how much time the show has put in making sure all of its core cast is worth watching.
