It is a series of comedic events presented by an Egyptian immigrant youth in America, New Jersey. The events that speak of the Egyptian Man Rami, who suffers from a spiritually contradictory life, begin in his New Jersey neighborhood. Now, things are not going well where Rami is drawn between his Muslim community, who believes life is temporary, and his thousands of friends who believe that life is full of things and possibilities.
It's a portrait of an American Muslim family never before seen in a sitcom, because these kinds of characters are never allowed to be this complicated.
Ramy is a comedy, and it's a good one, but its clear priority is to have the jokes emerge from the characters being so carefully drawn, and from the worldview so frankly explored.
