The storyline is involved, but keeps a viewer off-balance in a good way. It looks great. And Mother... is the most memorable female/female-like space entity since Sigourney Weaver's Ripley in Alien.
The filmmaking on display is top-notch and equal to most studio feature films but the story doesn't quite click. Maybe it is the non-linear storytelling and flashbacks that prevented me from connecting with the story more consistently.
The stunning technical work, the solid performances from the cast - especially from Collin and Fimmel - as well as its intriguing examination of parenthood, are enough to hook you in every episode.
If your appetite for portentous sci-fi action is robust, "Raised by Wolves" may go down easily enough, though mine is considerable and I still found my attention wandering by the second or third episode.
It's a show that throws concept after concept at the wall, though in Scott's seasoned hands, the vast majority of them stick, setting the stage for one of the most interesting sci-fi shows in years.

There's no doubt that Raised By Wolves is uneven, but the six episodes provided to press held my attention all the way through, and for all its faults it's jam-packed with lofty notions to ponder and gloriously soggy action to enjoy.
Raised by Wolves is sometimes overly ambitious, but Scott's direction establishes an immersive world, and the creators have plenty of corners of it left to explore.
Even if you're more on the fence about whether it all works -- or rather, whether it gets you at an emotional level -- it's certainly not going to provide you with typical sci-fi imagery.
