This dramatic series tells of two gay men, Vince and Stewart. The two friends are twenty-nine years old and live on a mix of sex, drugs and clubs. On one night, Stewart discovered a 15-year-old Nathan and then brought him back to his apartment where they made love. Nathan begins to think about Stewart and always follow him, but Stuart does not think of Nathan as he sees him as one in a long line of one night.
It was steamy to say the least, but the narrative was incredibly compelling and original. Following the lives of three gay men...Queer as Folk was revolutionary television--mainly because the characters felt like real people.
It ultimately succeeded not because it was the first truly prominent gay drama on the air, but because it was a character-driven show that tackled a lot of ground in a very short time.
A brilliantly brief series that came in, rearranged the furniture, splashed the walls with colour and then f---ed off. Punk TV at its most deliciously boisterous and subversive.
