Outlander - Season 1 Episode 10: By the Pricking of My Thumbs
In 1945, a married British combat nurse time-travels between World War II and Scotland in 1743, where she encounters rebellion and the dashing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser.
Phew! An action-packed episode to be sure, with the added bonus of not one but two guest actors (Sessions and Callow) chewing up the scenery with relish.
"By The Pricking Of My Thumbs" hits on all of Outlander's strengths as it blends all of the series's many genres. It has romance, mystery, and adventure, all packaged up in historical fiction and tied off with a fantastical bow.
I fervently wish "By the Pricking of My Thumbs" had been Outlander's midseason premiere, because it was exactly the kind of episode that highlighted everything wonderful about the show's world.
