Jupiter's Legacy "Volume 1" feels like a prologue to a much better series, but there are some fresh ideas to be found here, and a great cast mostly helps to elevate a disjointed story to not quite super, but still heroic levels.
Jupiter's legacy can't quite make it past the familiarity of its story, but there is plenty there to get excited about when it comes to the future of this series.
At the very least, Jupiter's Legacy is admirably acted and exceptionally costumed. Season one tells two stories and only finishes one of them. At least the one that gets an ending is the one worth watching.
Jupiter's Legacy is different enough from the mainstream cape flicks put out by Disney and Warner Bros., but that's largely because it's a tonal mismatch that gets pulled in three too many directions.
Looking for dysfunctional family dynamics? Umbrella Academy is more fun. Fancy some prestige flashbacks that explore generational trauma? Watchmen is a lot smarter.
