Through grown-up eyes, I see something else entirely: sloppy storytelling; broad, obnoxious, unfunny jokes; cheap animation; and a repetitiveness to every story that reveals a lack of imagination.
Whether it's his expando-arms and legs and neck, the things he randomly pulls out of his inflatable coat and everything he can turn his finger into, Gadget made every quirky kid out there believe they could be an unconventional hero.
While the show's writing was never very strong, the physical comedy holds up nicely and there's still plenty of laughs left in the series after all the years.
Gadget's array of bionic tools and stretchy limbs will capture kids' imaginations, and it's just plain fun to see how he gets out of the many scrapes in which he finds himself.
