The series follows highly trained young Marines of the First Reconnaissance Battalion struggle with inadequate supplies, bureaucratic snafus and poor communication during the first wave of the American-led assault on Baghdad in 2003.
This is a complex, unwieldy tale that draws you in and isn't afraid to take its time. And, in that way it reminds me of The Wire... Generation Kill promises to be equally unforgettable.
Watching Band of Brothers I didn't want anyone to die but with Generation Kill I feel some of the nihilism shared by the men of the 1st Recon. It doesn't help that the series suffers from some uninspired casting.
